Bonnie – On A Journey

I had the fun privilege of taking some fitness-lifestyle journey photos of my friend Bonnie.  She has done a great job of losing weight and looking great and exercising, so we went to West Point on the Eno near our homes and got some fun Fall photos in a new outfit!  And yes, those are the great JCrew peep-toe heels that I love so much.  They were too big for her but you can’t tell that in the pictures!

Keep up the good work Bonnie.  🙂

Family Multiplication: Mielke Family at Grand Floridian

This sweet friend and I are just days apart in our delivery due dates.  We used to live in the same apartments in Louisville and enjoyed a sweet friendship.  So excited they now live in my home state and are about to bring much joy to their family by adding one little member.  Here are some photos from our day at the Grand Floridian at Walt Disney World.  Many blessings, Sarah and Chuck!

Its really interesting who God brings into your life and what their passions are.  I first met Carrie back when I was doing college ministry at a local church and she was a student at UNC.  How both of our lives have changed!

Her interests: designing beautiful girl’s clothing (all you moms out there need a new dress for your daughters – right?), loving people, encouraging them, being real with friends, making dreams happen for others.  She is sweet and loves pink (can you tell by these pictures?).  We had a fun photo shoot with balloons, fun accessories, and the hottest day in Durham so far.  American Tobacco was quiet this morning for which I was thankful and the wind kept to a minimum so the balloons weren’t ALL over the place.

Loving God…loving others – this is what she likes to do!

Engaged: Bonnie and Chuy

I remember the day I got engaged…a dear friend called and told me that she was dating this guy…and she was excited about it!  Well, this past weekend my husband and I got to hang out with this fun couple and take their engagement shots.  It was a lot of fun: a lake, a guitar, coffee, nutella, and waffles.  Makes for a great day: and hopefully a start to a wonderful marriage!  May God bless yall.  I look forward to the wedding next month!

There are some amazing cities in this country that I call home. One of those is the nation’s Home city: Washington, DC. I took most of these on our honeymoon where we spent almost two days there, but I have spent other times there as well. Its historic buildings, candid history, and beautiful flowers all entice me to stay a little while longer, would love to move to its suburbs, and cozy up in one of its many local coffee shops.

I have dear friends.  My dear friends had a baby (the day before my birthday).  I got to hold my new love on my birthday when she turned 24 hours old.

You would think that this precious new baby girl would go to sleep for me when I’m trying to take her picture.  But no.  But, we had a lot of fun.  Some of these are the pictures that I love from that shoot.

I’m withholding the one that the finnlings will use as their own, but enjoy the rest!

Favorites of RDU

Ice.  That is what today is about.  There is ice, not snow, in RDU.  This has been one of the coldest winters I’ve experienced in RDU since moving here in 2000.  Note: we haven’t had 24 inches of snow (like in January 2000) or TONS of ice like we had in 2005 (or was it 2004)?  But, with temperatures not even reaching 50, really, not even 40, for most of the days for the past 6 weeks, its cold.

So, I thought I would talk about something happy and fun: favorite places in the Triangle.  There is a reason I love this place and am glad to call it home!

These are in no particular order:

Fosters Durham/Chapel Hill: I love her home-cooked food but upscale.  It is a place to sit all day with a book or a laptop and enjoy a scone with some snickerdoodle coffee or a glass of wine.  Her omelettes are fantastic and any of her baked goods are usually just what the doctor ordered.  I haven’t figured out which location I like better.

Best Dessert I’ve tried so far in RDU: Butterscotch Blondie at Bogart’s.  I had to share, it was my birthday, but I could have eaten the whole thing – with the ice cream.  So good.  Oh, and the inside out pb cup from Cafe Carolina .  So good.  Wish I could make.

Best Wine Experience: Sip in Cary.  Such a quaint, decorative place that you want to stay and get to know the owners and everyone who stops in.  They know their stuff: and everything is eco-friendly!

Best Thai Food: Chai’s in Durham on Erwin Road.  I haven’t been back since I returned to the state, because I’ve been trying out new places.  But, hands down, this is the best place by far if I want some delicious salty steamed edemame or a huge bowl of spicy chicken pad thai.

Go sit all day: Panera Crabtree.  The reasons are this: refillable unsweet tea, wifi free usage, overhear engaging conversations, 5 minutes door to door, and cheap, somewhat healthy food.

Outdoor Activities: Volleyball courts at Pullen Park, Shelley Lake for walking, Umstead park, summer movies at the museum of art, July 4 at Cary Amphitheatre, photo shoots at NCSU Arboretum or Duke Gardens, or anywhere on the campus of SEBTS or UNC

Best Cheap Mexican: Salsa Fresh is at least every 2 weeks – I’m going there tomorrow.

Best Jewelry: Moon & Lola

Best Pizza: Anna’s Pizzeria in Apex or Lilly’s at Five Points

Best Sushi: Champas at Briar Creek

What other places do I need to try?  I can branch out to anywhere in the Triangle.  I love new things.  What are some of your favorite things about living in the Triangle?
