Faces: Happy First Birthday Sweet Girl

Elysa Grace

Friends…life is much sweeter with friends.  This sweet girl’s momma and I were friends in seminary, I attended her parents’ wedding, and now, all these years later, we are living next door to each other.  Sharing life.  Sharing celebrations.

This family was in Florida for E. G.’s actual birthday but we are celebrating today by taking her first year portraits.

First birthday celebration

One of the great aspects I love living in the Atlanta Metro area is the lovely green spaces all over it.  Yes, traffic is a mess.  But, if you can traverse the traffic jams you get to the beautiful grounds of all these parks.  East Cobb park is one of them.  Only about 4 miles from us, it is a joyous place for our children to play together.

Here’s to so many more sweet years Elysa – enjoy the new found joys and experiences of toddler-hood!

Rocking Chair and Pearls

Red hair.  I have it, but not as vibrant as this sweet darling.  She is the spittin’ image of her momma and has rosy cheeks and eyes that twinkle that light up any room she is in.  I had a lovely time catching her playing with her pearls, rocking in a chair, staring at the lake, or being held by her mother.  Baby A – may life hold many wonders for you as you grow to be a woman who loves the Lord and lives life to the fullest.

White Jacket Required

One of my favorite genres of books is biographical.  Here’s why:

1.  It makes me know I’m not alone.

2.  It helps you know other people.

3.  It spurs you on to do things bigger than yourself.

4.  It encourages you in the journey.

I’ve been reading Eat Live Run for about 6 years now.  I knew Jenna, the author, was from my neck of the woods and then moved to an area with a great job (winery work) in an area I have wanted to visit and spend more time in.  I loved her recipes and she was into running and yoga.

So, I finally saw this book at my local library and devoured it in one day.  (Disclaimer: my boys napped a lot those hours because we were all feeling sickly).

I loved it.  That’s all I can say.  And I look forward to making the recipes.  It makes me understand her blogs much more.  Her style of writing is very personal and like you are sitting with her, having a cup of coffee, or sipping a glass of wine.

Thank you Jenna for writing your adventure – and you are about to embark on a new adventure in motherhood to a little boy.

Hope & Ian

Gone with the Wind.  Who knew it had a connection to Little Rock?  I hadn’t been up to North Little Rock to see the Old Mill (opening scene of the classic movie) until this past week.  It was a delight to share this beauty with a fun-loving couple who are in school in California.  It was fun to see them be goofy with each other, snuggle, and just relish in young love.

Enjoy the photos.  Hope & Ian – thank you for letting me capture your love and smiles.  Blessings to you!

Bless Mommy Photo Sessions

Mother’s Day is quickly approaching.  And what Mom wouldn’t want an evening to get a pampering package and have a photo shoot done?  To get clothes on that aren’t spit up on, dusty from cleaning the base boards, or have grass stains from cheering for their favorite baseball players?  Or maybe grease stains for cooking aren’t really her thing?

What better gift than a photo package?  In the month of April and May, I have 4 slots for your favorite mother to get pampered.

She’ll receive:

An hour photo shoot on location of her choice (in Little Rock)

3 printed photos of her choice

CD with 20 edited photos

A gift bag featuring some local Arkansas goodies that will help her feel pampered and special.

Flowers.

Cost?

$60 for everything listed above.

Are you in?  Do you want to get this for your wife/mother of your children?  Do you want to ask for this from your husband?

As a mommy of two young ones myself, I look forward to making you feel special as a Mommy with beautiful photos and some extra-special goodies.

I got to know Kathie when we took a short road trip down to Fort Worth, Texas for a photography workshop given by Casey and Kristin.  It was a fun short trip a year ago this weekend.  Meaning…it was missions weekend last year and this year is the missions weekend at our church.  How timely!

Last weekend we got to head out to Two Rivers park here in Little Rock, just minutes from our home, on a gorgeous evening about dusk time, and take some photos of her with her love.  Thanks Richard and Kathie for letting me share your lives with my readers!  It was a joy taking your photos!

Marshmallows.  You normally don’t think of the gooey sugary treat as being something that will bind friends together.  But, before I met my husband, I made marshmallows from scratch for the first time and put it on my blog.  When we came to Arkansas in view of a call for our church, Gina, the wonderful spunky lady in these photos, came up to me and said, “I think we are going to be friends, you make marshmallows.”
And yes, we are friends, and love to make marshmallows together.  Thankful to her and Brad, their story, and the Shoe – all their children that God has blessed them with.  For these photos we went to downtown Mabelvale, the booming metropolis, and enjoyed the trees, benches, church, bbq joint, and a set of railroad tracks.

Thank you Gina & Brad for letting me share your life with my readers!

Thanks to Groupon and splurging on the benefits of the Christmas season, the Mister and I gifted ourselves with 2 nights away this past December.  What a delight and may become a tradition for us.  It is a busy season in ministry and it is a perfect time to getaway with your love.

One of the nights of our getaway we stayed in a sweet bed and breakfast.  Forget the tuille and Victorian everything – no, this one was more our style: relaxed and delicious and quiet.  We loved the food, the location (even though it was cold), and the comfy room.  In some bed and breakfasts, the food doesn’t live up to reputation: but this one left nothing to be desired.  We broke fast on a delicious pineapple and pomegranate salad then feasted on herbed potatoes and a Monte Cristo that was perfectly cooked.

Our first floor room was complete with a deck that led out to the lake and a shower that I would love to have in our master bath at home.  There was a library to “checkout” books and seats throughout the home that would invite you to sit and stay for hours.

I long to go back there in the warmer months to enjoy the lake: the birds, the canoe, and the sun and swings.

Thank you Lookout Point!  It was delightful!

Over the summer the Mister and I took a “babymoon” to downtown Little Rock to do some exploring without the kiddos. One of the places we stopped by was this beautiful old mansion in the heart of downtown that is perfect for weddings, dinner parties, or photography sessions. I loved the details found in the lace curtains, the dishes laying around, the rugs, and sitting spots perfectly located near bright open windows with rays of sunshine pouring in.

If you need a place to take your bridal shots or wedding party planning – check out Trapnall Hall. You won’t be disappointed.
